Your Indramat power supply module has a very important job. It converts electricity into a usable form for the drive, and it cuts power to the drive if something goes wrong. If your power supply goes out, you need to fix it as soon as possible. Identifying the cause of the problem isn’t always easy, though.
Early Indramat power supply units show faults with error lights. There’s no way of knowing what’s causing the problem without a manual. We can help with this; request a replacement manual, or call 479-422-0390 for immediate Indramat service or support.
What does the Indramat power supply module do?
Almost all public power systems provide an electric charge in alternating current, or AC. Your drive, however, requires direct current (DC) voltage. The power supply module in your motion control system converts the AC line voltage to a usable DC bus voltage for the drive. Additionally, the Indramat power supply module supplies +24 and +/-15v power to the drives, and monitors both the outgoing power state and the drive state to see if it is going into error.
You can’t run your system if your power supply fails. You must repair or replace a defective unit as quickly as possible. However, the power supply might not be the source of the problem. Checking your connections and your cable is the first place to start.
Do error lights indicate a problem with the module?
Start by looking for lights/displays on the drives and power supply. If you don’t see lights, power the system down and isolate the power supply from the drives (separate the bus bars and the ribbon cable to the first drive) then power up again.
If you still have no lights/display on the power supply, the unit is bad (you did check the incoming power to make sure it was there, right?) Call 479-422-0390for immediate support. We can have a power supply on it’s way to you in minutes.
