Hard hats and safety glasses are easy to remember, but not all Indramat safety protocols are quite as obvious. Neglecting safety measures increases the risk of accident and injury on the factory floor. Make sure you’re doing everything you can to keep your system safe, and call 479-422-0390 for all of your Indramat service or support needs.
It’s not just how you use it
Indramat products must be properly stored, transported, assembled, and installed to ensure optimum performance and safety of your machinery.
Close enough isn’t close enough
Do not use generic parts on your Indramat system. Use only authentic Indramat replacement parts.
Take five
Wait at least five minutes after switching off power before working on your machinery. This allows the capacitors to discharge electric current. Always measure voltage of the capacitors before working on your equipment.
Unplug
Disconnect your system from power before working on machinery. Go one step further and make sure your system can’t be accidentally turned on.
Emergency stop
Make sure that the emergency stop switch is easy to see and accessible. More importantly, make sure that your emergency stop switch works before operating machinery.
Medical implants
Indramat brushless servos use permanent rare earth magnets, which means that operators with medical implants such as pacemakers, metal implants, or hearing aids are must consult a physician before entering work areas with Indramat servos in them. The electromagnetic fields can pose medical hazards.
Battery safety
Many operators don’t realize that Indramat systems even use batteries. Make sure that you use and dispose of batteries safely.
Maintain your machines
Routine maintenance doesn’t really seem like an safety measure, but poorly maintained machinery hampers productivity, puts your system at risk of preventable downtime, and puts your workers at an increased risk for injury. We offer preventive maintenance and inspection for Indramat motion control systems. Call 479-422-0390 for Indramat repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
