MKD112A-024-KG0-KN

Indramat’s MKD 112 motors are powerful workhorses meant for big jobs like printing presses. The Indramat MKD 112A is a maintenance-free motor with a standard cooling unit, which means that its housing is fully closed and it can be used in hazardous environments.

This also means that it has ball bearings which are pre-lubricated for the expected life of the motor. The expected life of the motor is 10 years. We’ve seen MKD 112 motors that have been in service for 30 years or more — well over the expected life of the motor. The MKD112A-024-KG0-KN is a very hardworking motor. That means that the bearings are probably in sore need of lubrication.

For this reason, we recommend factory reman for this motor. Indramat factory remanufacturing includes replacement of every wearing part (including the bearings) and full lubrication. That’s enough of a reason to go with reman if your MKD112A-024-KG0-KN has been in service for over a decade.

Reman also means checking and cleaning of all parts. Your motor returns to you in like-new condition, with a 24-month warranty.

Indramat parts are not available to any third party repair house. If you send your MKD112A-024-KG0-KN for a quick repair at Bob’s Fix-It-Up Shoppe, you will not get it back in a like-new condition.

MKD112A-024-KG0-KN is a brushless motor. The numerals “112” tell us the frame size and “A” tells us that it uses a standard cooling unit. The remaining numerals in the code tell us about the housing design, output, and various other details. If you need to replace a unit that has “MKD112A-024-KG0-KN” on the name plate, you must replace it with another MKD112A-024-KG0-KN. You can’t mix and match. You also can’t use a motor that has been “repaired” with parts from a similar but not identical motor.

Avoiding downtime

The most expensive part of a broken motor is not the cost of repairing or replacing the motor. It’s the cost of the downtime at your facility while you try to get your motor repaired. If you send it out to Bob’s Fix-It-Up Shoppe for a week or two, get it back with no warranty, use it for a couple of weeks, and then have to send it to us for actual factory reman, you will have been bleeding money during the downtime. You will still have to get your motor properly repaired.
