MKD071B-061-KP0-KN

This is the Indramat MKD071B-061-KP0-KN servo motor, a three phase permanent magnet synchronous servo motor designed for heavy use in harsh environments.

There’s a good range of sizes for this motor, but the 071B frame size shown here is a particularly useful and versatile motor. It’s often used for printing and packaging, food production, and machine tool applications.

061 in the name code refers to the windings. There are three options: 024, 035, and 061. The available options for the windings are related to the frame size (in this case, 071) and the length (in this case, B). A and B are the only lengths available for the MKD071 range.

KN at the end refers to the output direction and to the housing design. The MKD series has only one housing design, though different finishes were made for food processing uses.

The KP0 section is where specific options can really make a difference.

The MKD series has a motor feedback system. There are two options for the 071 series: resolver feedback  which uses relative position and an integrated multiturn absolute encoder which uses absolute positioning. The MKD071B-061-KP0-KN has resolver feedback.

It also has a shaft with a keyway, rather than a plain shaft.

0 in this case refers to the fact that the MKD071B-061-KP0-KN doesn’t have a holding brake.

As you can see, the MKD071B-061-KP0-KN is not interchangeable with other MKD071 motors. It’s important to make sure that you plan any repairs or replacements with the specific motor in mind.

One thing that all MKD motors have in common: they are maintenance free, brushless motors. Their bearings are lubricated for lifelong use. That means the life of the motor. And here’s where things can get a little complicated.

The lifetime of your motor may be quite a bit longer than the company expected. We often see MKD071B-061-KP0-KN motors that were put in place in the 1970s. Factory reman will bring your MKD071B-061-KP0-KN back to you with all wearing parts — including bearings — replaced, and a new 24 month warranty in place.

Factory repair is another option. Call now and our Indramat experts will help you determine your best option.
