This durability comes from the housing. ADF motors feature an enclosed housing and coverings that protect these motors from damage caused by moving parts, dust, foreign objects, or moisture. A primary coat of black paint adds an extra layer of protection to the motor housing. This durability translates to a reliable, long-running motor.
ADF motors operate at any elevation within the proper ambient temperature range (0°-45° C). This is an important feature to note for motion control systems installed at higher elevations. Air density directly affects heat transfer. Servos dissipate heat better at lower elevations with denser air than at higher elevations where the air is thin. Liquid cooled ADF motors negate the effects of altitude.
